Here is the series on my recent haircut! I went to Salon Spargo in Farmington Hills, MI and had my hair cut by Marni, a Devachan trained stylist.

After Cutting the Heat Damage

Take a look and let me know if you think I should get my cut fixed by a professional. Is hack job an understatement for this? LOL, still love my hair and loooove wearing my wash and gos now!

Updated Flat Ironing Routine

At the end of the Sizzling Hot No Heat Summer Challenge I couldn't WAIT to flat iron my hair. I missed the ease of moisturizing and sporting the full length of my hair. A quick length check made me think my hair hadn't grow in length. I did notice that my hair was thicker. Or perhaps I retained more hair in general. Either way I was pleased with the results. Stay tuned for videos featuring the cut AND the flat iron afterwards.

The Cut & Wash'nGo

Recently I cut some of my ends off that were splitting. An inch at the most, at the very very ends. Saturday was my wash day. After I washed my hair with Giovanni's Deep Moisture Shampoo and Shea Moisture's Curl and Shine Shampoo, I detangled with Aussie's Moist Conditioner. I rinsed 80% of that out and noticed some real progress with my heat damage. I decided to Deep Condition with my new Organic African Black Soap Purification Masque from Shea Moisture because I had major build up. Rinsed that out throughly and REALLY noticed how much my ends were curling. I felt amibitious and pulled out my Direct-Leave In, Hair Smoothie and Eco-Styler.
Dare I try another wash 'n go?
YES, I dare!
The process starts and the gel really helps me see where the heat damage is centered. I countinue to rake the product through my hair. I look down and see my scrissors staring back at me.
Hmmmmm. Snip, Snip Snippity SNIP!
I just kept going and going! Until noticable chunks of my hair were on the counter. No combing out to see if the sides were even, just cut away until I was satisfied. Fortuantely, I caught it all on tape.
After some editing I'll make sure to post it with more pictures. The freedom is liberating. I've dreamt of wash n' going all year long.

Peace & Blessings,
KG

Stretching Natural Hair

The Banding Method is awesome!
Easy to do to keep your hair detangled in its stretched state. I band in one, two and four ponytails depending on how stretched I want my hair and how lazy I am that particular wash day ;)

Give it a try! It might be your next go-to stretching technique.

5 Hair Lessons Learned: Newbie Edition

What I've Learned

"Going natural" can be a daunting task. Although I transitioned by accident in 2002, I wasn't caring for my hair properly until earlier this year (2011). My journey has been very rewarding, and as I continue to grow I learn more and more. Here are somethings I've learned.

What's your #1 lesson learned?
